When “Ice Ice Baby” first earned nineties rapper “Vanilla Ice” millions of dollars, he went real estate crazy. He bought a home on Miami Beach’s Star Island, a Laurel Canyon / Los Angeles property, a home in New York’s Greenwich Village, and a Snowbird, Utah “ski bunny” lodge, but no King Farm MD homes. “I went on tour for three years and never saw any of those houses,” he confessed. Once he sold them, he made millions of dollars easily – and so, his passion for real estate investing was born.
Sure, the real estate market has changed since the early nineties, but Vanilla Ice says people can still make money if they educate themselves, study the different real estate markets and take advantage of deals on foreclosures and short sales. Over the years, he’s bought and sold more than 100 homes, primarily in Florida.
Now Vanilla Ice has his own real estate remodeling show that premiered on the DIY Network on Saturday, January 21st. In season two of “The Vanilla Ice Project,” Vanilla Ice and his crew sets to work renovating a dilapidated Palm Beach County mansion over the course of 13 episodes. Vanilla Ice says viewers can expect to see “modern, state-of-the-art” real estate features the average person can’t get until 2013. This season, he plans to install a helicopter pad, a 3-D movie theater, electronically controlled beds, a pneumatic elevator, smartphone controls throughout the home, and a lazy river pool, things that most likely would be viewed as over the top if found in King Farm MD homes for sale.
Even if you don’t plan to put an elevator or a 3-D cinema into your home, Vanilla Ice says there are many takeaways from the real estate remodeling show. “You might like the flooring we used in the garage,” he says. “It’s just snap-in tiles. It’s really simple. You can order them anywhere and make your garage a really cool man cave. There are a lot of cool little things that you’re going to be inspired by and have ideas to do to your own home.”
